• Natural genuine gemstone - no treatment. Some slight surface imperfections and pitting, but this does not detract from the beauty of this stone and as the fire is so bright it is not immediately noticeable. As opal cutters "chase the fire," following the seam through the host rock to reveal its brilliance, boulder opals sometimes have slightly uneven surfaces. These undulations are left to preserve the opal layer and its fire, avoiding unnecessary loss during cutting.
