This beautiful Australian free form boulder opal cabochon has a gorgeous deep blue / violet hue with sparkles of color. Its natural, polished surface highlights the unique patterns and depth, making it a perfect choice for a one-of-a-kind jewelry piece once set.   • Cabochon
  • Size: approximately 22 x 10mm
  • Has a hardness of 5.5-6 on the Mohs scale
  • Natural genuine gemstone - no treatment - as these are natural stones they may have slight surface imperfections. As opal cutters "chase the fire," following the seam through the host rock to reveal its brilliance, boulder opals sometimes have slightly uneven surfaces. These undulations are left to preserve the opal layer and its fire, avoiding unnecessary loss during cutting.
