Sea Glass Ear Studs
We love collecting sea glass but what can you do with it? Make your own handmade jewellery!
This earring project is so easy and you'll have beautiful sea glass ear studs in no time. This kit contains ear stud settings in 2 sizes, so you can create 2 different sets of sea glass earrings - you will need to find your own sea glass to complete the looks!
STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS
Choose your pieces of sea glass that will fit on the flat plate ear studs.
You can choose from 2.5mm, 4mm or 6mm flat plate ear studs. In this kit, we've selected 2 larger sizes but you can customise the kit to your requirements and only add the ones you need to your basket.
You may find it easier to stick the posts of the ear studs into some blue tac on your work surface, leaving both your hands free to apply the glue and so the glue can dry with the earrings in an upright position.
Firstly, you need to make sure the sea glass and flat plates are clean.
You can use sandpaper to gently rough up the area that the sea glass will attach to the flat plate - this will make allow a stronger bond.
Apply a small amount of Devcon 5 minute epoxy glue to one of the flat plates, then place your first piece of sea glass and apply a little pressure to make sure the glue has coated the bottom of the glass and leave in place until it feels secure.
If necessary you can wipe off any excess glue with a cloth before it dries.
Repeat this step on the other ear stud.
Allow to fully dry.
Attach the scrolls and your earrings are complete!
