Australian Boulder Opal Freeform Cabochon, Approx 11x9mm

This beautiful Australian free form boulder opal cabochon has an unusual violet purple colour and gorgeous sparkles of fire in a clear pool above the boulder host rock. An ideal size and shape for a ring or delicate pendant.   • Cabochon
  • Size: approximately 11 x 9mm
  • Has a hardness of 5.5-6 on the Mohs scale
  • Natural genuine gemstone - no treatment - as these are natural stones they may have slight surface imperfections. As opal cutters "chase the fire," following the seam through the host rock to reveal its brilliance, boulder opals sometimes have slightly uneven surfaces. These undulations are left to preserve the opal layer and its fire, avoiding unnecessary loss during cutting.
