Freeform Mexican Fire Opal - Approx 17x14mm

This freeform Mexican fire opal is beautiful with flashes of iridescent fire emanating from its centre. This opal was mined from one of the first opal mines in Magdalena Jalisco, Mexico. In Mexico, the opal was named vitzitziltecpal or "hummingbird stone", due to the iridescence colour of the gem being similar to that of a hummingbird's plumage.

  • Size: approximately 17x14mm
  • Has a hardness of 5.5-6 on the Mohs scale
  • Natural genuine gemstone - no treatment
  • Has surface imperfections and inclusions
  • Birthstone of October
  • Healing properties: calming, comforting, and happiness
  • Sold individually, the opal pictured is the one you will receive on purchase
  • Country of origin: Mexico
  • NB - this stone has a small chip. It also has an area on its side that is unpolished as shown in the product images, therefore the stone has been priced to reflect this.
