Sterling Silver Plain Edge Bezel Cups for Cabochon Stones
Sterling Silver Plain Edge Bezel Cups for Cabochon Stones
These plain edge sterling silver bezel cups provide a way to set your cabochons with a neat and professional finish.
Simply solder to your design and rub over the cup bezel over the stone using a bezel rocker or burnisher until your stone is held securely in place.
- Available in a range of shapes and sizes
- Suitable for cabochon stones only
- Due to the manufacturing process (die-struck), the bezel cups become work-hardened so will require annealing (the process of softening metal by heating with a gas torch) prior to setting. As they are designed for soldering onto your design this will most likely happen during the soldering process so will not require additional annealing
- As commercially cut stones have a size tolerance you may need to work on these bezel cups prior to fitting your desired stones
- Sold individually
When requested to check that stones fit bezel cups we will try to select you a smaller sized stone that will hopefully be an easy fit however it is not guaranteed. As these are manufactured die-struck bezel cups and our stones are commercially cut stones they will have size tolerances and are rarely an exact size. For these reasons, we can not guarantee that the stone will fit straight into the bezel cup and you may need to adjust the bezel cup to get the stone to fit correctly. If your stone doesn't quite fit, once you have annealed your bezel cup (which will happen during soldering) it is usually quite easy to adjust the cup, using the usual stone setting techniques - using a burr, burnisher or punch or similar tool to slightly enlarge the setting. Whilst ready made settings are a considerable time saver over making your own from metal sheet and bezel strip, nothing beats the precision of making a setting to the exact measurements of the particular stone you are working with.
