Neon Citrine, Chalcedony & Onyx Earstuds
These bright and bold earrings are inspired by neon colours and we're so in love! This project uses basic wire-wrapping skills so is great for a beginner.
STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS
1. Firstly, wire wrap the green onyx briolette bead - click here for step by step instructions with photos of how to wire wrap a briolette. Cut a length of wire approximately 10cm long and slip the bead onto the wire, pinch both ends of wire together at the top of the bead, form a loop and twist the wire under the loop to secure the bead.
2. Next, you want to create a bead chain for the pink chalcedony beads. Read our full step by step guide with photos here. Cut a length of wire about 5cm long and form a loop with round nose pliers. Twist the wire around and fix the loop in place, you will need to snip off any excess wire with side cutters and squeeze the end of the wire for a neat finish. Thread the pink chalcedony bead onto the wire and start to form another loop. Now it's time to add your wire wrapped briolette bead before you secure the loop. Wrap the wire around the loop to secure it in place, and trim any excess wire.
3. Slide the top loop onto one of the snaptite claws.
4. Repeat these steps for the other earring.
5. Place the faceted citrine stones face down (flat side down) onto a firm surface such as a magazine placed on your work surface. Place the snaptite mount over the stone and apply gentle pressure to 'click' the stone into place. Check that the claws are firmly in place - it may be necessary to gently adjust the claws with a pusher to ensure a secure fit.
